Tata Capital, the Tata Group’s financial services arm, has announced Project Aarogyatara, an endeavour to eradicate curable blindness through universal primary eye care facilities. The goal is to promote the eye health of low-income families, assist in the diagnosis of eye illnesses, provide timely treatment, and raise awareness about regular eye check-ups. The project has been implemented effectively in Maharashtra, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.
In five years, Tata Capital has worked with six non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to facilitate over 23,000 cataract surgeries through Project Aarogyatara. Through community mobilizers and healthcare staff, the project assists in the diagnosis and treatment of refractive defects.

In the next three years, we plan to expand this project to reach another half a million people. “We will continue to strengthen the availability and accessibility of quality eye care for the local communities.”
