Public Interest Awareness and Education Initiative ‘Basmati Rice No Compromise’ initiated under CSR

Basmati Rice No Compromise – KRBL Limited’s India Gate Basmati Rice, the World’s No.1 Basmati Rice brand, and the Eat Right India initiative, run by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), launched the nationwide ‘Basmati Rice No Compromise’ public interest education and awareness campaign in the national capital today. Even though the regulations went into effect on August 1, 2023, India Gate Basmati Rice has taken the lead in promoting healthier eating habits, encouraging balanced nutrition, and increasing food safety awareness among consumers across India through this initiative, while also raising widespread awareness of the recently released FSSAI regulations on identity standards for Basmati Rice. 

“The “Basmati Rice No Compromise” public interest initiative, under the aegis of India Gate Basmati Rice and Eat Right India, lays emphasis on recently launched FSSAI regulations of identity standards for Basmati Rice, iterates the need for establishing fair practices in the trade of Basmati rice and protecting consumer interest,” Mr. Anil Kr. Mittal, Chairman and Managing Director, KRBL Limited and a Basmati Rice industry doyen, said at the inaugural Conclave. 

The ‘Basmati Rice No Compromise’ Conclave, a KRBL public-interest effort, was launched in New Delhi in the presence of Dr. Harinder Singh Oberoi, Advisor, Standards, FSSAI. The Conclave will now visit Chandigarh, Kolkata, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, and Jaipur before wrapping up in Mumbai. 

Dr. Harinder Singh Oberoi, Advisor, Standards, FSSAI, praised the initiative, saying, “FSSAI has always made efforts to protect the consumer’s interest by not only formulating standards and enforcing compliance; by guiding the industry in improving standards as the Eat Right campaign continues to educate the public at large.” FSSAI’s guiding principles are quality, authenticity, and safety.  I am grateful to the FSSAI for allowing me to share my thoughts and support the campaign. This multi-city awareness campaign, in conjunction with KRBL, will assist in educating not just consumers but also institutional customers such as restaurants and hotels.” 

Basmati Rice No Compromise

Shri Kamala Vardhana Rao, CEO FSSAI, lauded KRBL’s efforts to educate customers on the most recent laws enacted by the FSSAI.

Chef Gill has had the great honor of feeding past American Presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, George Bush, as well as French, Canadian, British, and German premiers, among many others.

With the common goal of assisting customers in making educated food choices, India Gate Basmati Rice will collaborate with FSSAI to educate consumers about these new basmati standards so that they may choose the proper basmati, thereby preserving consumers’ interests in receiving what they pay for. Basmati rice is well-known for its distinct scent, flavor, and long grains, making it a popular choice among consumers looking for nutritious and delicious meal options. 

The collaboration will include numerous awareness efforts, digital outreach activities, and educational initiatives to provide consumers with the knowledge they need to make informed eating choices. Furthermore, both India Gate Basmati Rice and the FSSAI will actively work with important stakeholders, including as nutritionists, dieticians, and health experts, to improve the product.
