NBCUniversal and JioCinema sign multi-year deal to bring global entertainment in India

Global entertainment in India – On Monday, NBCUniversal and Viacom18’s Jio Cinema announced a multi-year agreement that will deliver hundreds of hours of NBCUniversal films and TV shows to India. This collaboration will expand JioCinema’s programme offering by allowing audiences to watch titles from NBCU’s world-renowned content portfolio.

Universal Television, UCP, Universal International Studios, Universal Television Alternative Studio, Sky Studios, DreamWorks Animation, Universal Pictures, Focus Features, Bravo, and other brands are part of NBCUniversal’s portfolio.

JioCinema’s newly announced service ‘JioCinema Premium’ will host NBCU programmes beginning next month in a Peacock-branded hub on the platform. Viewers will gain access to first-run shows such as ‘Young Rock,’ a comedy starring Dwayne Johnson, compelling action thriller ‘The Lazarus Project,’ investigative drama series The Calling, and many more.

This agreement also includes critically renowned and fan favourite dramas and comedies from NBCU’s extensive catalogue, such as Downton Abbey, Suits, The Office, Parks & Recreation, and The Mindy Project.

The streaming debuts of films from the legendary Hollywood studio, which has already earned more than $2 billion at the global box office this year, will add to JioCinema’s strong SVOD line-up at launch. This includes the Oscar-nominated ‘Puss in Boots: The Last Wish’ from DreamWorks Animation, as well as the sci-fi horror picture ‘M3GAN’ from James Wan (producer of The Conjuring, Annabelle) and Blumhouse. These current hits will be joined by flicks from the blockbuster ‘Jurassic Park,’ ‘Bourne,’ ‘Shrek,’ ‘The Mummy,’ and ‘Pitch Perfect’ series.

Movies from the Fast franchise and the smash-hit Despicable Me/Minions, including the recently released Fast X, as well as Super Mario Bros, will be accessible. Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated IMAX epic thriller ‘Oppenheimer’ will also be released.
