IT major Wipro asks employees to report to office

The four-day-a-week operation will begin on October 10 at the campuses of Bengaluru-based IT major Wipro, which has requested its staff to report to work three days per week. According to an internal email sent to staff, those in leadership positions will need to work outside of offices three times per week, the IT major noted.

In accordance with this communication, starting on October 10, Wipro’s India offices will only be open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. This will allow us to preserve our hybrid work flexibility while also enjoying the camaraderie and team spirit of connecting in person, according to the email that Moneycontrol was able to see.

This is consistent with what Wipro Chairman Rishad Premji said in an exclusive interview with Business Today in Davos earlier this year. Many individuals want to return to work where there is a sense of community and a social dynamic, according to Premji. They also hope to establish a sense of neighbourhood.

He also mentioned inclusivity as one of the advantages of workplace flexibility. Women who have recently given birth, those with impairments, and residents in small communities are among those who may desire flexibility.

Premji added, “Perhaps we’ll develop a model where ‘x’ percentage of our employees can work from home, on a full-time basis, and perhaps come in for a few days a month, etc. However, for the vast majority of individuals, we would like to work toward some kind of hybrid model, which we will identify.

However, Wipro is not the first business to summon its staff back to work. According to the schedule established by their management earlier this month, Mumbai-based IT powerhouse Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) also requested that its staff members work from the office at least three days every week.
