Flix, owner of Greyhound, to enter India; first intercity green buses to launch in 2024

One of the biggest transport companies in the world, Flix, has said that it will increase FlixBus operations in India. In India, Flix intends to begin operating bus services in 2024.This year is the anticipated launch date for the first intercity green lines.

The organisation, which claims to have Europe’s greatest long-distance bus network, is also present in the US, Canada, and Brazil. In 2018, a pilot programme for all-electric long-distance buses and the nation’s first green long-distance train both went into service. At the moment, it runs in 40 nations and reaches more than 5,500 locations worldwide.

According to Flix, it intends to enter “one of the world’s largest bus markets” with its “unique business model.” This year, it will also begin FlixBus operations in Chile.

The 42nd nation in the Flix network will be India. The market size for economical, environmentally friendly, and secure long-distance bus services in India, according to the business, is larger than the combined markets for Europe, Turkey, and North America.

According to André Schwämmlein, co-founder and CEO of Flix, “We are convinced that our special business model to work with small and medium-sized local bus partners and our technology for planning, booking operations and pricing would be a successful match also in India. We’ll create the region’s most competitive bus network by placing a heavy emphasis on standardisation and safety. We are prepared to make large investments in our community’s economy, invest in employment growth, and pursue market leadership.By raising the bar and developing a competitive market offering, Flix pledges to give clients more dependable options. Every car in the fleet will receive the same level of maintenance from the company.

The global Flix fleet’s buses are thought to be 4-5 years old on average. The green buses provide free Wi-Fi, spacious seats with plenty of legroom, air conditioning, power outlets, and general cleanliness and safety to their passengers. The transport company claimed that FlixBus has a seat-reservation system in most nations and that it intends to roll it out across all of its markets.

“India is committed to alternate drives and is moving quickly towards a time when all forms of public transport use electricity. Flix has the chance to play a crucial role as a result.
