In today’s fast-paced world, knowledge with technology has become a must-have ability. In keeping with its vision of promoting digital education in rural India, Electrosteel Castings Limited, a pioneer in the manufacture of Ductile Iron Pipes and Fittings in India, recently initiated a Computer Literacy Training as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to empower students living in villages surrounding Srikalahasthi in Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh. From June 2022 to April 2023, ECL-Srikalahasthi conducted Computer Literacy Programmes for around 140 pupils at Zilla Parishad (ZP) High School, Thondamanadu village, Tirupati district, for classes 6 to 9. The training course is intended to be a year-round CSR activity in several schools within the Tirupati area. The next training programme will be held at ZP.
Electrosteel established a computer learning infrastructure with desktop computers at ZP High School, as well as identifying trainers from Srikalahasthi’s Softline Institute of Computer Education. Computer quiz contests and assessments were held on a regular basis to check the pupils’ knowledge. ZP High School is one of the greatest government schools in Tirupati District, offering English-medium instruction. A test will be administered at the end of each programme, along with a valedictory ceremony, and the top performing pupils will be given with digital tablets. The Thondamanadu village computer literacy campaign garnered overwhelming support and gratitude from the locals, pupils, and parents.
