NRL & Assam Government ink MoU to setup Sports Training
At a function held in Janata Bhawan on March 30, the Assam government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Oil India Limited (OIL), Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), and Abhinav Futuristics Pvt Ltd to establish two high-performance sports training and rehabilitation centers in Guwahati and Jorhat.
The agreement was signed by Assam’s director of sports and youth welfare, Nibedan Das Patowary, and Olympian Abhinav Bindra (on behalf of Abhinav Futuristics Pvt Ltd).
Similarly, OIL chief general manager (HR) Ranjan Goswami and NRL CGM (HR) Kajal Saikia signed the MoU for OIL and NRL.The Assam government signed an MOU with Abhinav Futuristics Pvt Ltd for the Guwahati center, while the Assam government signed an MOU with OIL and NRL for the Jorhat high-performance sports training and rehabilitation center.
Each High-Performance Sports Training Centre is expected to cost Rs 23.78 crore, with an additional operational maintenance cost of around Rs 2.49 crore. The state government will fund the Guwahati center’s expenses, while Oil India Ltd and Numaligarh Refinery Ltd will contribute CSR funds to the Jorhat center.
Assam Government
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said during the MoU signing ceremony that the high-performance sports training and rehabilitation centers are the most recent additions to the building.
According to Sarma, the high-performance sports training centers will result in a qualitative improvement in the state’s sporting landscape.
Sarma also stated that youth physical fitness is an important aspect of performing well in sports. As a result, high-performance sports training and rehabilitation centers will go a long way toward achieving an important milestone in sports excellence.
The chief minister also stated that the operations of the centers are an important segment because the state government has contracted with Abhinav Futuristics Pvt Ltd to run the centers for the next five years.
During this time, the state government will develop its own expertise in order to run these centers. Sarma expressed confidence in the outcome of the sports training centers, stating that all of the state’s athletes. Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra spoke on the occasion, applauding the government’s initiative to establish training centers in the state.
He stated that, in addition to overseeing the operations of the Centres, his organization will provide free medical services, including surgery, to any athlete who sustains an injury. His organization will assist athletes in instilling Olympic values in them so that they can serve as powerful ambassadors for the promotion of sports and their values in the state.On the occasion, Sarma also congratulated Lovlina Borgohain on her incredible achievement in winning the Gold medal in the Boxing World Championships.
